Did you know that the body will actually retain water if you don’t drink enough of it? It does this because it knows how much water it needs to keep our amazing machine doing what it needs to do to function properly. So if you don’t drink enough water, the body will retain some to ensure the proper functioning of all organs. The body will think there’s a drought coming so I better hold on to some water just in case I don’t get anymore anytime soon. So how much water should we be drinking? Common practice recommends that an average human drink eight 8oz glasses of water per day. Are you drinking enough?
Now that we are on the same page about the why and the how much water we should be drinking on a daily basis, how about we examine the source of your water? Avoiding plastic bottles is key in this process. First of all, we all have to work together and help clean up the mess we have made of our amazing planet and plastic has got to go. In addition to harming the planet we live on, plastic also harms us. Bottled water companies increasingly use BPA-free plastic, but laced into plastic bottles are other chemicals that can seep out if bottles are exposed to heat or sit around for a long time. Some of these chemicals are endocrine disruptors. Our endocrine system is an information superhighway that regulates ALL bodily functions.
